Electrical Transformers

Harnessing the power of wind requires knowledge of the grid, electrical equipment expertise and an understanding of the complexities of interconnection. Pioneer has been a custom manufacturer of electrical equipment for the utility industry for over the last 50 years. The company's products are used primarily in substation applications and, during recent years, increasingly for wind farm projects.

Pad Mount Transformers

We manufacture three phase fully tamper proof pad-mounted transformers in the range of 75 kVA to 10 MVA with top voltages of 46kv voltage class. The units can be designed for radial or loop-feed applications, in live-front or dead-front execution. when fuses are required we provide a hinged hatch above the fuses to reduce the tank height to a minimum. all units comply with CSA-C227 and ANSI C57. the following options are available:

1500 kVA 24.94 kV Grd Y - 600Y/347V
Dead Front Radial Feed

  • draw-out expulsion fuses
  • full range of current limiting fuses
  • bay-o-net fuses
  • single or two fuse systems
  • load break HV bushing inserts
  • dual voltage switch
  • tap switch
  • load break switch/switches
  • various gauges
  • 55/65 degree C temperature rise

Unitized Pad-Mount

Unitized Pad Mount

Pioneer's unitized pad mount transformers function as low profile, tamper proof, totally integrated pad mounts, providing much of the functionality of a small substation. After the wind turbine itself, electrical transformers represent the next most significant component of capital investment for wind energy projects. Several of North America's largest project owners and their engineering firms have put into service hundreds of Pioneer unitized pad mount transformers for their balance of plant requirements.
